All auditions will be held at Maggie's Little Theater
at St. Margaret Parish,
66-11 79th Place, Middle Village, NY

Notes:

  • Auditionees may be asked to read singly or with others.

  • Auditioners should prepare the entire song(s) for the character; however, if there are time constraints, we may ask you to sing only a selection from the song.

  • If necessary, auditionees may be asked to return for a call back.

  • We ask that you be respectful of the other auditionees and maintain a quiet attitude.

Rehearsals begin in early June, with 2-3 weeknights (7:30 – 10pm) and Sundays (time TBD based on cast availability.) Schedules will be published in advance.

Cast is required to keep the schedules clear for every night of tech week, beginning 10 days before opening. Please bring your calendar to the audition in order to list your conflicts. Conflicts/vacations do not necessarily exclude you – we need to know for scheduling purposes.

You agree that, if cast in "Into the Woods" and subsequently auditioning for another production performing after "Into the Woods" is over, "Into the Woods" is your priority and these rehearsals are your conflicts for that production.

Maggie’s Little Theater requires all cast members to perform volunteer activities outside of their role. Examples include helping with costumes and props, hall setup, distributing flyers and posters, set strike, tech procedures, production tasks, and others.

Please be prepared to sing the vocal cuts below for characters that you are interested in playing. At auditions you will likely be asked to sing the vocal cut for the character you want the most, but please be aware that you may be called to sing for any character you indicate you are interested in on your audition sheet.

Characters:

The Baker - (Male, 35-45) Vocal range Ab2 – G4. A harried and insecure baker who is simple and loving, yet protective of his family. He wants his wife to be happy and is willing to do anything to ensure her happiness and refuses to let others fight his battles. Stubborn and laser-focused.

The Baker’s Wife - (Female, 25-45) Vocal range F3-G5. Determined and bright woman who wishes to be a mother. She leads a simple yet satisfying life and is very low-maintenance yet proactive in her endeavors. She is her husband’s anchor, and often is the brains behind his accomplished moments.

The Witch - (Female, 45-65) Vocal range F3-G5. Sarcastic, manipulative, strong, obsessive protector of Rapunzel who is straightforward and aggressive. She speaks the truth, even when it hurts. Even when it hurts her.

Cinderella - (Female, 20-30) Vocal range G3 – G5. An earnest young maiden who is constantly mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters. She longs for a lived life.

Jack - (Male, 20-30) Vocal range B2 – G4. The feckless giant killer who is ‘almost a man.’ He is adventurous, gorgeously curious, naive, energetic, and bright-eyed. He learns the meaning of consequence and connection.

Little Red Riding Hood - (Female, 18-20) Vocal range Bb3 – F5. A young girl who is strong-willed, quick-witted, fearless, yet youthful and naive. Narrator/Mysterious Man - (Male, 50+) Vocal range G2-Ab4 Two very different but essential roles. The Narrator is an intellectual and pleasant storyteller, while the Mysterious Man is a nosy meddler who is protective and observant while seemingly on a different wavelength.

Jack’s Mother - (Female, 50-65) Vocal range Bb3 – Gb5. Browbeating and weary, she is Jack’s protective mother who is independent, bold, and strong-willed. She has a flair for sarcasm.

Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf - (Male, 30-35) Vocal range Bb2 – Gb4. Wolf: Hungry and insatiable hunter who takes advantage of the weak by misleading and captivating his prey. Prince: Vain, charming, and gorgeous, he is a disloyal lover who is currently searching for the next new, exciting thing. He wants what he can’t have, then after getting it, he’s unsatisfied. Note: these roles may be split for two actors.

Rapunzel’s Prince - (Male, 30-40) Vocal range Db3 – E4. Just as vain, charming, and gorgeous as his Prince brother, he is always chasing the newest, most exciting endeavor. He also wants what he can’t have, then after getting it, he’s unsatisfied. Sibling rivalry runs through his veins, so he also wants to be the more desired prince.

Rapunzel - (Female, 20-30) Vocal range B3 – A5. A loopy-but-lovely maiden who is sheltered by the Witch and terribly lonely. She yearns to experience the world outside her tower. She has a spirit that’s saddened by the chains keeping her down.

Cinderella’s Stepmother - (Female, 40-50) Vocal range top: F#5. Vocal range bottom: A3. The mean-spirited, overly demanding, pompous and entitled stepmother of Cinderella.

Florinda & Lucinda - (Female, 25-35) Vocal range top: Ab5. Vocal range bottom: C4. Cinderella’s stepsisters who are black of heart. They follow in their mother’s footsteps of abusing Cinderella, as well as inheriting their mother’s pompous entitlement.

The Steward - (Male, 35-50) Vocal range: Ensemble singer. A man-servant who is used to doing whatever he has to solve a problem. His only care is to please his master or the strongest personality in the room. Conniving, callous and cowardly.

Cinderella’s Father - (Male, 50+) Vocal range: Ensemble singer. Out of touch with his family, especially Cinderella, but harmless and well-meaning. Ensemble singer.
